Abdul Ghani Hazari (12 January 1921 – 1976) was a prominent Bangladeshi poet and journalist, widely respected for his literary and journalistic contributions. He was born in the village of Nayagram in Sujanagar, Pabna district. Hazari completed his education at Kolkata University in 1944, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in philosophy.

Throughout his career, Hazari was known for his poetic works that combined deep philosophical reflection with social and cultural themes relevant to Bengal and later Bangladesh. Besides poetry, he was active in journalism and contributed significantly to the literary discourse in the region.

For his contributions to literature, Abdul Ghani Hazari received notable recognition including the UNESCO Prize in 1964 and the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1972. Posthumously, he was honored with the Ekushey Padak in 1990, one of Bangladesh’s highest civilian awards, celebrating his enduring influence in both journalism and poetry.

His legacy continues as an important figure in Bangladeshi literature, remembered for blending intellectual depth with accessible poetic expression and nurturing cultural awareness through his works.
