Sikdar Aminul Haq (6 December 1942 – 17 May 2003) was a distinguished Bangladeshi poet known for his romantic and lyrical poetry. Recognized for his contribution to Bengali literature, Haq carved a unique space in contemporary Bengali poetry with his innovative imagery and profound emotional depth.
Early Life and Education
Aminul Haq was born in Kanchrapara, Kolkata, British India (now in India). His childhood and early education were in Kolkata. Later, he moved to Dhaka and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from Jagannath College in 1965. His exposure to literary and cultural environments in both Kolkata and Dhaka influenced his poetic growth.
Career
Haq began his literary career in the 1960s, gaining critical acclaim for his poetry collections that blend romanticism and modernist elements. His poetry often explores themes of love, life, existential musings, and social realities. He wrote both poetry and prose, publishing over 20 books in his lifetime.

Legacy
Sikdar Aminul Haq’s contributions earned him the prestigious Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1994 and posthumous Ekushey Padak in 2020 for his unique literary achievements. His poetry continues to deeply influence Bengali poetry and readers.
Death
He passed away on 17 May 2003 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
